He is accused of fatally shooting Mervyn and Maree Schwarz, as well as Graham Tighe, in August last year. The fourth family member, Ross Tighe, was also shot but managed to escape and alert authorities. He appeared via video link while his solicitor, Andrew McGinness spoke over the phone to the court seeking directions as to when the prosecution would provide outstanding evidence.
