A missing man has been found dead by homicide detectives on the outskirts of a small town in Western Australia almost a month after he disappeared. Mr Smith’s body was found on the outskirts of the town about 240 kilometres south of Perth on Friday. Police said the investigation into his death was ongoing and anyone with information should come forward. Mr Smith’s family have been informed and a post-mortem will determine the cause of death. WA homicide detectives became involved in case earlier this week. ( South West WA: Ellie Honeybone ) He was last seen alive at 5pm on December 7 last year, and he was reported missing on December 18. Police called on the public for information on Mr Smith’s whereabouts shortly after this, as he had not been in contact with friends or family. The homicide squad took over the case this week. It is understood police conducted investigations at Mr Smith’s home in recent days, after which the search area was expanded.
