A 45-year-old man drowned yesterday while swimming off La Tejita beach, close to El Médano in the south of Tenerife.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 1pm to find a doctor and a lifeguard attempting to resuscitate the victim after he had been pulled from the water.
An air ambulance was rushed to the site but despite their best efforts, the victim was declared dead at the scene.
This latest tragedy is the third over the weekend after two other men drowned in separate incidents on Gran Canaria on Saturday.
