The Tenerife Cabildo has extended the ban on barbeques and other risky activities in and close to the island’s forested areas.
Given the latest weather forecast for yet more hot, dry weather in the coming days, the authorities have extended the ban making it an offence to start any kind of fire, including the controlled burning of farm stubble, firework displays, or any other activity likely to cause a fire.
The Cabildo has also pleaded with drivers not to go off-road in the forested areas while the hot dry conditions continue to pose a risk.
