Soaring temperatures are predicted again for this weekend starting Sunday and the islands are in yellow alert.

Temperatures of up to 34º are forecast for Monday, and up to 35º for Tuesday.

This is the sixth heatwave in the Canary Islands this summer, but  according to the Spanish Meteorological Office (AEMET), temperatures will be lower than those recorded between the 8 and 12 August.

The hottest days in the islands are forecast to be on Wednesday and Thursday of the coming week, with temperatures which could reach as high as 36 C.

Unfortunately these weather conditions favour the possibility of  wildfires starting spontaneously so there will be increased fire risk indices in the islands which will continue for three days, 19, 20 and 21 August.
