A 66-year-old man and his 65-year-old wife were stabbed and seriously wounded in a domestic incident in Tenerife last night.
The stabbing took place in Santa Cruz when the couple tried to intervene to protect their daughter from being attacked by her ex-partner.
Police were alerted at around 9.30pm and the 43-year-old aggressor was detained but not before police struggled to overcome the man when he tried to stab himself.
Both victims and the aggressor were taken to hospital, the father suffering from a wound to the stomach and his wife with knife wounds to her back and neck.
