The lifeless body of a 70-year-old man was recovered from the waters off Playa de Las Americas on Sunday.
Local lifeguards pulled the victim from the sea and tried desperately to resuscitate him while waiting for an ambulance and medics to arrive at the scene.
Unfortunately, both they and the medial staff were unable to revive him and he was declared dead at the scene.
No further details were made available by the authorities.
