August 29, 2012

Following a summer marked by a series of heat waves, the Canary Islands are bracing for yet another this coming weekend.

The Met Office has declared a yellow alert for today, warning of temperatures of up to 34 C.

Weathermen say the hot weather will affect the south, west and east of Gran Canaria, as well as some areas of Tenerife and La Gomera.

The Met Office said temperatures will increase slightly on Thursday, rising still further over the weekend and will be accompanied by Calima conditions.
