Maritime Rescue 300km South Of Gran Canaria

August 20, 2012

A small boat, carrying 15 would-be immigrants, was rescued yesterday some 300km south of Gran Canaria.

All the occupants, including seven children, were taken from their vessel and brought safely to shore at Puerto de Arguineguín aboard a Maritime Rescue craft.

All 15, believed to be of North-African origin, are said to be fit and well, except for one who was taken to hospital with a foot problem.

The appearance of the craft and its occupants is an unusual event these days. In fact, it is the first boat with so many people on board for more than two years.
