The fire is heading east-southeast and more than 100 people have had to be evacuated from their homes in the upper part of Valle Gran Rey county.
Helicopters are already active at the focus of the fire and hydroplanes which have been requested should arrive between 2 and 3pm today (Saturday)
Javier González Ortiz speaking for the Canarian Government said it is unlikely that they will be able to contain the fire today given the meteorological conditions on the island.
Update 1pm Saturday.
The Hydroplanes have now arrived at la Gomera from the mainland and are expected to go into action within 20 minutes
