The wildfire which has been affecting La Gomera since the beginning of August is now said to be “practically stabilised” according to a spokesperson from INFOCA (Civil defence protection against risk of forest fires)
Fire fighting work has gone well both with the fires above and below ground.
Ground teams are concentrating on dampening down hot spots on the perimeter of the fire whilst 1 Canarian Government helicopter and two state hydroplanes are dousing the interior of the perimeter .
The GM-2, remains closed to traffic from kilomtre 23 to29, (Las Hayas to Los Pajaritos).
