Spain’s annual inflation rate rose to 2.2 per cent in July, up from 1.9 per cent in June.
The latest Consumer Price Index figures from the National Statistics Institute also revealed an upward trend following a two-month period of stable figures.
The latest rise is believed to be due, in part, to the increase in prescription charges, which took effect recently.
The last spike was seen in April when inflation rose to 2.1 per cent as a result in increases in electricity tariffs.
