Santa Cruz Local Police arrested a 29-year-old man for an alleged case of domestic violence yesterday, but then had to arrest the victim as well .
Police were called in after several taxi drivers reported seeing a couple causing damage to a tram stop in calle Ángel Guimerá.
When officers arrived on the scene they found the man had turned on his 24-year-old girlfriend, grabbing her by the neck and thumping her whilst snatching her bag and throwing it on the ground.
Obviously the police intervened, but to the surprise of the officers, the woman then lunged at the policemen who had hold of the detainee, giving the officer several blows and kicks and telling him to “let the man go”.
The battling couple were taken away – in separate squad cars.
