Latest reports say the forest fires on La Gomera have been stabilised with no active fronts remaining.
However, firefighters continue to monitor and douse several hot spots within the perimeter of the affected area.
A meeting will take place today between the president of the island’s Cabildo, Casimiro Curbelo and the mayors of the municipalities affected, (Alajeró, Vallehermoso, Hermigua and San Sebastian).
Together with a team of 15 specialists from various disciplines, they will begin the task of assessing the damage and establish a plan of action.
