‘Flu Jab Programe Back On Track

December 21, 2012

Health authorities in the Canary Islands are breathing a sigh of relief after it was revealed that the relatively mild weather has delayed the onset of the winter ‘flu season.

Following recent delays of up to six weeks in obtaining doses of the vaccine, due to concerns of contamination elsewhere, there was a great deal of concern that the vaccination programme would not be completed on time.

However, the weather appears to have saved the day and pushed back the onset of the ‘flu outbreak until mid-to-late January, allowing doctors more time to obtain and administer the vaccine.

So far, of the 250,000 doses of the vaccine currently available, 120,000 have been administered.
