A 50-year-old German tourist drowned yesterday while swimming off Famara beach in Lanzarote.
Rescue services were called after the man’s wife reported him missing at around noon on Monday.
The victim’s lifeless body was found later a mile from where he went into the water, dragged by the strong current. He was declared dead at the scene.
