Haulage firm Pall-Ex is expanding its growing network by setting up an operation in the Canary Islands.
The company, based in Ellistown, near Coalville, which was founded by Dragons’ Den star Hilary Devey, will cover all seven islands.
The firm said its expansion to the Canary Islands was prompted by the success of its Iberian network set up a year ago to serve Spain, Portugal and the Balearic Islands.
It will bring the group a step closer towards its goal of creating a European-wide network.
Pall-Ex’s new operation will be up and running from the start of August, with a depot located on each island.
The firm operates hub and freight networks involving a group of haulage firms which offers a more cost-effective way of transporting goods by road.
Enric Estruch, managing director of Pall-Ex Iberia, said: “We are now in a position to start operating in the Canary Islands, which opens up a host of further possibilities for us.
“The network is already helping to drive down costs for manufacturers, importers and distributors in the Iberian peninsula.
“There is no reason why similar methods of operation and the subsequent benefits cannot be transferred here.
