Double Trouble

February 7, 2013

It can’t be often that twins are born in different places but that is exactly what happened in Gran Canaria yesterday.

The 27-year-old mother-to-be arrived at her local health centre where her GP, realising that the woman was full term with twins and going into labour, called for an ambulance to take her to hospital.

However, on route, as the birth of the first of the twins became imminent, the ambulance crew diverted to a second health centre in Maspalomas where the first of the twins was delivered without complications.

Nevertheless, doctors decided that there was plenty of time before the second twin was born for the mother to be transferred to island’s the maternity hospital.

Well, anyone can make a mistake and the doctors did, which resulted in the second twin being delivered by the ambulance crew on the side of the GC-1 motorway after baby decided not to wait any longer.

After a second successful delivery, the ambulance continued its journey on to the maternity hospital where both mother and babies were given a clean bill of health.

Now…About those birth certificates.
