Canary Unemployment Among The Highest In Spain

The Canary Islands closed 2012 with the third highest unemployment rate in Spain.

Standing at 32.96 per cent of the working population, it was exceeded only by Andalucía, (35.86 per cent) and Extremadura, (34.06 per cent), according to the latest Labour Force Survey (LFS) released by the National Statistics Institute.

In Spain as a whole, over the same period, the number of unemployed reached 5,965,400, a national unemployment rate just above 26 per cent.
