The number of foreign tourists coming to the Canary Islands remains healthy with August showing a slight increase, (0.1 per cent), over the same period last year.
In fact, the islands welcomed more than 822,000 foreign tourists in August, a record for the month, with the number of Russian visitors continuing to increase.
The encouraging August figures added to a bumper summer across Spain, which saw visitor numbers up by five per cent to 7.9 million by the end of the month.
The British and French markets have been the driving force behind the growth, together with a significant increase in Russian visitors, while the German and Italian markets have shown a small decline.
