Tomorrow, Saturday November 1, is Todos Santos, (All Saints Day) and is a national holiday in Spain.
So although it’s a Saturday, don’t get caught out. All major supermarkets, banks etc. will be closed for the day and you may find taxi fares are higher than normal.
All Saints Day is when Catholics celebrate and honour the saints. Traditionally it is a day when families visit the resting places of loved ones, place flowers on their graves and have a general tidy up.
Being Spanish, the visit is often accompanied by a picnic and a glass or two of wine, while later the feasting continues later in the day
All Saints Day was originally celebrated in May but the festival was moved to November by the Catholic Church in an attempt to stamp out the pagan festival of Halloween.
