All Inclusive Destructive To Local Business

July 29, 2014

armbandsThe Business Association of Las Americas and Costa Adeje (AEPACA) is complaining that the all inclusive system applied in the vast majority of  hotels in the south of the island is destructive to local businesses.

Through a statement issued yesterday, AEPACA also criticized the trend to allow mini bazars and market stalls in  the public areas of hotels, competition they consider “unfair” and say this, “is one of the reasons that most local legal establishments do not have sufficient liquidity to meet their fiscal and tax commitments.”

AEPACA also complains of threats to legal jobs when hotel companies hire staff for four hour contracts who work eight hours or more, fuelling the underground black economy.

The Association President Victor Sanchez, said. “You just have to walk through the streets any day, including weekends, to realize the significant amount of businesses that have closed their doors.

According to Victor Sánchez, “it is no longer about generating profit, but about the simple survival of small business”; he called on public bodies to “be aware of this situation and act accordingly as soon as possible.”
