About the Editor

One of the drawbacks of coming to live permanently on this delightful lump of rock in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean is that local news in my mother tongue is sometimes  hard to come by. Yes there are newspapers and internet blogs about Tenerife and the Canary Islands in English. But many blogs are rarely updated and even when they are, they seem far too personal.

I have worked in traditional print and my partner is an Internet ‘witch’ so from this somewhat unholy marriage (only joking dear)  came the idea to start NEWS IN THE SUN.

The aim is to add at least two news articles of local interest every weekday, as well as news from Spain that affects us here in the Canary Islands and occasional longer features of general interest.

I hope you will find the site interesting enough to want to keep visiting and also to add your comments on the articles on the site.
