Canary Islands’ Shopping Survey
When it comes to your shopping basket, La Gomera is the most expensive place in the Canary Islands to shop.
According to the latest survey from the Institute of Statistics, covering February this year, La Gomera was the most expensive with an index of 104.9, while Gran Canaria was the cheapest with an index of 95.
The larger islands appear to have the advantage of scale, with Tenerife proving to be the second least expensive place to buy a basic shop.
The biggest price rises, among the 249 basic items used in the survey, were seen in non-alcoholic drinks and cereals, while fruit and vegetables saw the smallest increase.
