All involved in the Paws and Claws benefit event in Coral Mar Square, Costa Silencio, last Sunday the 7th March. The square was beautifully decorated - a tombola stall full of wonderful prizes, and from 2pm, some of the islands best entertainment.
Thanks to Jimmy Livingston for comparing the event, and Tony for the sound and lighting. A wonderful array of acts turned up and donated their time, making a huge effort - Ritmania,Charlie Karlsen, Suzie Q, Phil Gibson, Alfie B, Nikki Baker, Cliff, Smashed, Howie B, Aidy Evans, Tony Kracka, Cris Richards, Dave Micheals, Avril Taylor, Jesse Garon,The Flamenco Shoe(c/o DecoArt), Barry Eastwood, Stevie B,and if we forgot anyone, apologies.
Thanks also to all of the businesses in and around Coral Mar for the 50 fab raffle prizes and their help and encouragement. This was organised by Cara, Mark from the Great British Chippy and Gareth from Starlights amongst others, and we are very grateful for the amount of work that went into planning the day, raising €700!! Mostly though we would like to thank all the people who attended this event and gave so generously. Thank You.
We are very proud to be associated with and supported by the fantastic new PURA VIDA riding school (formerly Rancho Grande) on Amarilla Golf. Riding, jumping and dressage lessons available plus horse therapy and if you call Gabriel on 663 440 350 (or why not pop down and see the brand new centre), he will offer special prices when you mention Live Arico . Also, grand horse and dog show will be held at the centre with horse and dog competitions, games for the children and a BBQ in their new restaurant area some time in May. Date to be confirmed but look out in our columns…it will be a great day.
UPCOMING EVENTS
There will be a benefit night on the Top Square Golf del Sur on Wednesday the 31st March, with Suzy Q and many guest artists, tombola for the kids and a raffle.
Saturday the 3rd April is the Live Arico Easter Feast and 10th Birthday Party. We will be holding the event at the Harvester Grill, Costa del Silencio, where a 2 course meal will be served with a glass of wine, and an evening of entertainment, raffle and auction. Tickets are priced at only €15 and are on sale at the Harvester Grill, The Live Arico Shop, Starlights or by calling Suzy q on the number below.
Saturday the 17th sees us at the Harbour Club, Los Gigantes, with details to follow.
Rachel Sandford of Rachels Motors in Las Chafiras is undertaking a sponsored swim in June, but no ordinary sponsored swim - no, she is swimming from Los Abrigos to El Medano - AND BACK AGAIN!!! The distance is approximately 15 kilometres, and we are looking for volunteers to do a sponsored walk at the same time along the same route - but on land of course!! Please call Suzy q on the number below if you are up for it to register and organise sponship forms. THE PURCHASE OF LAND FOR A SOUTH TENERIFE RESCUE CENTRE
We have sold 110 square metres of land up to now, and our land account (which includes sales of 2010 calendars) stands at €3436.00.
The purchase of land is moving from a dream to a reality, as we attempt to buy a plot for the new rescue centre. We are part of the way there, due to several generous benefactors, but construction costs will not be small, so we need a fundraising initiative too.
Could you, BUY A SQUARE METRE OF LAND FOR Live Arico? At just €5 per square metre, you will receive a certificate from Live Arico for now, and your name and number of square metres purchased will be on a “Roll of Honour” in the welcome centre at the new refuge.

From March 15th, we will be once again offering blood pressure testing in the shop, every Monday from 11 am to 1pm, and Thursday afternoons from 1pm till 3pm.

We are now going to announce our shop takings, which pay our food bills plus extras, on a monthly basis. Traditionally February is a quiet month in the retail trade but our shop in Coral Mar has taken a whopping €4,029.80 this short month. Many many heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped to make this happen. For the massive amount of items donated and to our hardworking fantastic volunteers who give their time for free. “A” team of the month is Ann and Sandra who took a fantastic €249 on Tuesday 16th Feb. Thankyou to you two but also to Denice, Shirley, Lorna, Rose, Maggie, Marguerita (our Spanish Elf) and Cara.Well done ladies, you are superstars.
We need more bric a brac so as Spring Cleaning season is upon us why not have a grand clearout and bring to us?
For the month of March we have our March madness sale of winter items…Boots at just 2 euros and a selection of winter clothes at just 1 euro.
We are also grateful to accept items of furniture as we are now working in conjunction with Fish for Furniture, Los Abrigos and Idea, Adeje. Call Rick to arrange pick up.
Starting in April we will be holding a monthly psychic reading afternoon with one of the top psychics on the Island. Start date to be announced soon.

If you are on the Golf del Sur and cannot travel to Silencio, you are welcome to drop shop donations at Winter Gardens Gym and they will be brought to us.
We are happy and grateful to receive any donations of cat and dog food at the shop.
