Petty Puerto Burghers Ban Booze
Puerto de la Cruz council have issued a municipal ordinance prohibiting the consumption of alcohol in the public thoroughfare, together with a ban on mobile street vendors and prostitutes.
The new rules have received initial approval and are expected to come into force in May this year.
According to a council spokesperson, the banning order is being put into effect because of complaints by hundreds of local inhabitants, demanding better security measures in the streets of the municipality.
However, the new rules have stirred up quite a hornet’s nest with residents divided on the issue.
Though most would support any moves that improve civic order and promote tourism, some see the new rules as an infringement of their human rights.
In any event, it would be a surprise if the new, strict code isn’t suspended during Carnaval!
No drinking in the streets, no lookie-lookie men. A good move?

Do it NOW. If you don’t, you will regret it. The UK went soft years ago on crime, yobish behaviour, lack of respect for others.
Do gooders have had their way and now we cannot reverse what has been allowed.
If you want drug pushers/takers,drunks, robbers, anti social behaviour and prostitutes in your street, outside your house. Then vote yes to allow. Don’t grumble and ask authority in the future that you wish it to be stopped. TOO-LATE
