Canary Islands’ Lost Generation
More than 47 per cent of under-25s in the Canary Islands are out of work, while unemployment in the islands overall stands at 26 per cent, the highest in Spain.
But it is the under-25s, those with little or no work experience, who seem to be suffering most.
Since the economic crisis hit home, unemployment in this age group has risen by more than 93 per cent, leaving 428,000 more young people out of work in Spain than there were two years ago.
