Aid For Tenerife Families Struck By Flooding
The Spanish government has released financial aid to local councils, affected by the recent heavy rains in Tenerife.
The financial aid, made available through the Ministry of the Interior, is intended for families who have suffered personal or material damage to their houses and belongings.
Also eligible are communities of owners, where the communal areas have suffered damage. Also, local councils to repair damage done to public areas , as well as owners of commercial property where the business employs fewer than 50 people.
Anyone who feels they have claim can apply through their local council, although the government has placed a time limit on when claims can be made.
Claimants have one month from the declared end of the emergency situation.
The Civil Defence, along with government representatives, will be holding meetings over the next couple of days with technical staff of the affected municipalities, in order to coordinate the effort to get the aid, speedily, to those who need it most.
