Tenerife ‘Wally Trolly’ Accident - Nine People Injured.
The land train, or ‘Wally Trolley’ as it is affectionately known, (similar to the one pictured), which ferries visitors around the Las Americas area, has overturned outside the Sunset Bay Club apartment building in Fañabe.
According to a member of thetenerifeforum.com the accident happened at around 11am this morning.
Initial reports said that one of the carriages overturned, and three ambulances were at the scene with at least four people being rushed to hospital.
Update 3pm…The Canarian Health authority have now confirmed the following details about the incident which occurred at 10.51 am today in Calle Antonio Navarro, Playa de las Américas.
Nine people were injured in the crash, three of them attended to at the scene while five women, aged between 37 and 81-years-old and a 66-year-old man, were transferred to the emergency department of Hospiten Sur via ambulance.
All were described as having slight head and face injuries and other minor contusions.
One source is suggesting the accident was a result of the driver going too fast while making a turn.
However, local Police say the accident occurred after a saloon car collided with the land train, which then partly overturned.
