Busy Week As Six Cruise Liners Dock In Tenerife
Santa Cruz will play host to more than 13,000 cruise passengers this week with the arrival of six cruise liners at the city’s port.
The much-welcomed influx begins today with the arrival of 3,500 Italian and German tourists aboard the ‘Costa Europa’ and the ‘Mein Schiff’.
On hand to greet them will be an army of tourist information personnel, handing out literature and giving advice on where to go and what to see during their stay.
Wednesday sees the arrival of the cruise ship, Grand Voyager, carrying some 600 Spanish and Portuguese passengers.
However, the highlight of the week, for many, will undoubtedly be the arrival on Thursday of the giant ‘Independence of the Seas’, carrying 3.800 British passengers who will, hopefully, spend a few quid during their stay.
Hardly time to draw breath before Friday sees the arrival of the ‘Navigator of the Seas’, with another 3,000 British passengers on board.
And finally, Saturday will close the port’s intensely busy week with the arrival of the transatlantic ‘Costa Luminosa’, carrying 2,400 Italian and German passengers to the city.

Re article on the 6 cruise ships in Santa Cruz, Tenerife, during this week ending Saturday 7 November 2009. We are due to sail from Santa Cruz on Friday 6 November 2009 on Thomson Island Escape. I note this is not mentioned in your report, just thought I would mention this!!

Hi Gloria,
Thanks for your input and I must confess that I was unaware of your sailing.
However, the real point of the article was to put an upbeat spin on the dire situation the tourist industry is suffering here in Ternerife, by applauding the thousands who are arriving, not those who are departing.
Anyway, hope you enjoy your cruise, lucky devil!
