Spanair Flight Grounded After Two Aborted Takeoff Attempts
A Spaniar flight, on route from Tenerife’s South airport to Seville, twice aborted takeoff on Saturday night and was subsequently grounded for “technical reasons.”
Sources at the airport said they did not know exactly what the problem was with the aircraft and that an investigation is underway.
Stranded passengers, meanwhile, were taken care of by airport staff while they awaited alternative transport.
The incident comes at the same time, as the release from hospital in Madrid, of the last two survivors of the Spanair disaster of August 20 in which, 154 people lost their lives.
The last patients to be released from hospital were 40-year-old Pedro González Angel, who suffered fractures to his legs and pelvis, and 11-year-old Maria A.F. who suffered a fractured femur.
Both had spent a gruelling 65 days in hospital.
