Miss Tenerife Crowned
This weekend saw 22-year-old Sara Perez, from Puerto de la Cruz, crowned as the new Miss Tenerife 2008.
Sara will now go forward to represent the island at the next Miss Spain pageant.
Many here are hoping that Sara can emulate the achievements of last year’s Miss Tenerife, Patricia Yurena, who went on to win the national title.
Chosen as Sara’s Maids of Honour at the ceremony, held at the Castillo Negro de Santa Cruz before an audience of more than 5,000 people, were Raquel de Ara and Gisela Dorta.
First to congratulate Sara was last year’s winner and current Miss Spain, Patricia Yurena, who will be carrying the hopes of Spain in next month’s Miss World competition.
The evening also saw Alexis Diaz, from La Orotava, chosen as Mister Tenerife.
