Thirty or more employees at the Guaza concession of the Santa Cruz based Igara Renault dealership have gone on indefinite strike in protest against the repeated delays in wages payments.
Staff wages have been paid later and later for some two years.
Currently some staff have not yet received salaries for December, no one received any bonuses and all January’s wages are also overdue.
There was silence yesterday as the Guaza reception area and repair shop staff downed tools, there was no one in the cafeteria, but the administration and sales departments carried on as normal.
Renault Igara manager, Juan Ignacio de La Fuente, said that there is an investment partner of Renault who is willing to make a capital investment to guarantee payments.
The company’s 60 million Euro turnover in 2006 has now dropped to 20 million.
