The Spanish airline Spanair officially ceased trading last Friday and left some 1,400 passengers stranded in the Canary Islands and 160 employees not knowing whether they will be paid.
Yesterday queues at information desks grew as passengers affected by the closure continued to present their claims to Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (Aena) representatives at Canary Island airports.
Many victims have begun to seek flights from other airlines after 27 Spanair flights were cancelled on Sunday.
Just last year the company carried more than 600,000 passengers to and from the Canaries, which accounted for 16 percent of air traffic in the archipelago.
