Firefighters, battling a fire in La Laguna, discovered the body of one of the occupants of the house in the Gracia area.
Firemen were called to the scene at around 10.40 pm to find the fire contained in just one room of the house and the fire was soon brought under control.
However, a spokesman said there was nothing they could have done to save the victim, who is understood to be a man.
